You imbue a Feather with Fey-magic. The Feather grants the Creature carrying it the Ability to use Misty Step, without expanding a Spellslot, once within the next Minute. After the Creature uses this Ability or 1 Minute, the Magic subsides.
Misty Step: As a Bonus action, briefly surrounded by silvery mist, you teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space that you can see.
You weave the shadows to get an illusion at the right time, confusing the attacker as they strike. The attacker must make an Intelligence saving throw. It automatically succeeds if it doesn't rely on sight, as with blindsight, or can see through illusions, as with truesight.
On a failed saving throw, the attack does not hit the original target. The attacker instead hits the illusion and takes 3d8 necrotic damage.
On a successful saving throw, the attack hits the original target, but the damage it deals is reduced by an amount equal to your spellcasting modifier.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage (for a failed saving throw increases) by 1d8 and the reduced amount of damage (for a successful saving throw) increased by 4 for each slot level above 2nd.
This spell allows you to manipulate shadows in various ways.
You create one of the following magical effects within range:
You alter the size or darkness of a shadow you can see, doubling or halving it for the duration. None part of the shadow may extend beyond the spell range.
You alter the shape of a shadow you can see for the duration. You can make the shadow appear alive, making it seem to be breathing or staring at someone or something.
You cause a shadow you can see disappear, or make a creature or an object you can see cast a shadow for the duration.
You cause a shadow you can see to be frozen in place for the duration. If the creature or object casting the shadow moves, the shadow remains where it was.
You cause a 10-foot cube you can see of bright light become dim light, or dim light becomes heavily darkness for the duration.
If you cast this spell multiple times, you can have up to three effects active at a time, and you can dismiss such an effect as an action.
